Well folks, it is officially wrestling season. About to start week 2 of season.
You know what wrestling means; not eating, being exhausted, being gone at practice or duels or team meetings.
Well that was my mentality last week, and regardless to say, it was a bad week. Along with other emotional events outside of my control, wrestling had started.
But you know what, you can either ride the waves or fight them. This past weekend I got a little glimpse of what life would be like if I fought those waves and that would mean being blamable for losing something that is so special and great to me. This reality check made me realize a couple things:
I am SO excited for wrestling. I truly love watching my strong talented and committed boyfriend kick some other guys ass on the mat. I love cheering for him and kissing him when it’s all over.
I know what it is like to have 1 more chance to do something and you want to do it to your absolute best ability. That being said I was never as committed or dedicated to something as Dalton is to wrestling. It is honestly insane how much effort and diligence that boy puts into that sport. But regardless I know the feeling and need to respect and celebrate that.
I need to focus on the positive. It is so easy to take a situation, spin it into a way that makes you feel like you’re being slighted, and then get upset. TAKE NOTHING PERSONALLY and see the bright side. Prime example: Dalton took me out to lunch the other day, bought me lunch, but didn’t eat anything himself. I felt bad for myself, my boyfriend won’t even eat lunch with me! I made myself out to feel awkward cause I was eating and he wasn’t. But in reality he was hungry, went out of his way to spend time with me and buy my lunch, then watched me eat cause he knew it was important to me. Focus on the positive, it makes every situation so much better.
Wrestling season means: dedication, screaming at duels, getting super excited, being supportive, finding ways to make the little moments special, and celebrating that national championship at the end of season 🙂
