What do you do with one night and day in Edinburgh, Scotland?
Thanks to our travel-hacking pals, we were gifted a night at The Channings Hotel (4 stars) in Edinburgh! We jumped in the car and headed South for a whirlwind night on the town.
As this is our third visit to Edinburgh – we skipped out on the big tourist attractions and instead just relaxed, enjoyed great food, comedy and tasty drinks. The next morning we stayed on the West end exploring the Water of Leith Walk and Dean’s Village before heading back North. We made our way slowly back taking in the iconic Forth and Tay Bridge and filling my never-ending obsession of visiting Farm Shops!
A Bit More on the Stops :
12 – 16 South Learmonth Gardens, Edinburgh, EH4 1EZ
A sophisticated, beautiful hotel with all the charm you could hope for. Great breakfast and wonderful location. 5 minute walk to Dean Village and 15 minute walk to the Royal Mile.
63 Cockburn Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1BS
My second time visiting Laila’s – a bit embarrassing with the selection available in Edinburgh. But shows how much I love it! Great prices and a wonderful selection for any size of appetite. B.Y.O.B.
9 Blair St, Edinburgh EH1 1QR
Great, fun Sunday night show! 4 different acts & a headliner – and if you’re a student all for free. Would 100% return on a Sunday night in Edinburgh. Places like this are why you want to live in a buzzing city!
7 Hanover St, Edinburgh EH2 1DJ
Follow the green light down the stairs near Bella Italia on Princes Street. And figure out how to get past the seer – took us about 2 minutes! Fun cocktails, great unpretentious atmosphere. Really was a perfect end to the evening.
24 Lanark Rd, Edinburgh EH14 1TQ
We just did a small portion of this near Dean’s Village. Beautiful – hard to remember that you’re in Edinburgh! Would love to follow this further.
Dean Path, Edinburgh EH8 8BH
Quaint, historic village on the water in the West end. Lovely to admire – however we weren’t too sure if there was much else to do here!
63 Dean Path, Edinburgh EH4 3AT
Such a peaceful place with so many interesting, crowded graves! A lazy wander in the sunshine reading and imaging the lives of some very (obviously) important people.
West Craige Farm, South Queensferry EH30 9AR
A beautiful farm shop set right outside the city – you can see both the water and cityscape gleaming in the distance. Meat, fruit, cheese and a great cafe! Time at a farm shop is always so wonderful and Craigies is no different!
Under the 3 Bridges
Newhalls Rd, South Queensferry EH30 9TA
Thanks to a wrong turn we ended up here! So impressive to look up at the bridges and watch the trains and cars from afar. Queensferry itself was completely charming – would love to spend a day wandering this cute little area.
